General Activity Description:
A seven - day practical course in which participants will master systematic teaching skills to deliver structured ballet lessons for children aged 5 to 9, covering graded syllabus content, age-specific movement training and classroom management.
Aims:
To enable trainees to fully understand the staged syllabus framework tailored to the physical, psychological and cognitive development of 5–9-year-old children.
To build teachers’ proficiency in delivering standardized foundational ballet technique while maintaining fun and engagement for primary-age kids.
To cultivate trainees’ ability to differentiate teaching strategies for younger beginners (5–6) and older elementary learners (7–9).
To equip participants with knowledge of child sports safety, injury prevention and positive reinforcement teaching for young ballet students.
To develop teachers’ competence in designing progressive lesson plans that balance technical training, musicality and creative dance expression.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the 7-day training, participants will be able to:
Fully interpret graded syllabus targets, movement standards and assessment benchmarks for 5–9 age groups.
Demonstrate correct demonstration, cueing and correction methods for basic ballet positions, barre work, jumps and travelling steps suitable for children aged 5–9.
Design complete, progressive one-hour lesson plans with warm-up, technique practice, musical games and cool-down segments.
Manage group classes efficiently, handle common classroom issues such as short attention spans, performance anxiety and uneven skill levels.
Apply age-appropriate safety protocols to avoid joint and muscle strain during children’s ballet training.
Integrate rhythm, classical children’s ballet music and simple choreography to nurture students’ artistic sense and performance confidence.
Set clear, achievable learning goals and carry out gentle, constructive progress tracking for young learners.
Recommended Preparation:
Pre-read basic knowledge of motor development for 5–9-year-old primary school children to grasp their learning concentration and physical limits.
Come with fundamental dance awareness; prior ballet experience is preferred but not mandatory, as long as you are ready for hands-on practical drills and mock teaching.
Prepare fitted dance wear, ballet slippers and hair accessories for on-site movement practice and demo teaching.
Familiarise yourself with light classical ballet children’s music to prepare for rhythm and choreography practice during training.
Bring a notebook, pen and optional recording device to document key syllabus rules and practical teaching tips.
Teachers with existing children’s dance teaching experience may prepare typical classroom challenges or student cases for group discussion.
Review basic ballet terminology to speed up absorption of technical content during the intensive 7-day course.
