International Dance Examination (Chongqing)
General Activity Description:
A seven-day intensive practical training course designed for dance educators delivering Intermediate level ballet classes for students aged 13 and above. The programme covers advanced graded technical standards, adolescent & teenage body mechanics, pointe work training, exam preparation, artistic performance, injury prevention and professional vocational pathway guidance for teen and young adult ballet learners.
Aims:
Enable participants to fully master the complete technical framework, assessment rubrics and artistic requirements of the official Intermediate ballet syllabus for students aged 13+.
Equip teachers with professional expertise to guide teenage dancers through complex centre work, advanced allegro, sustained adagio, pirouette sequences and standard pointe technique.
Build teaching competency to address teenage physiological changes including rapid skeletal growth, muscle imbalances, body awareness challenges and heightened risk of overtraining injuries.
Train educators to balance rigorous technical refinement with sophisticated musical interpretation, performance artistry and stage expression required at Intermediate standard.
Develop targeted exam coaching skills for formal Intermediate ballet assessments, including exam etiquette, consistent movement execution and performance storytelling.
Cultivate strategies to motivate teenage learners, manage performance pressure, resolve mental burnout and support students considering vocational dance training.
Establish evidence-based safe conditioning, warm-up and recovery regimes to mitigate chronic dance injuries common in teenage intermediate-level dancers.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the 7-day training, participants will be able to:
Fully interpret all compulsory sequences, technical exercises, port de bras and choreographed repertoire within the Intermediate ballet syllabus.
Deliver precise, detailed physical and verbal corrections for advanced barre, centre adagio, complex jumps, rotational work and core pointe fundamentals.
Design layered, progressive full-length lesson plans integrating technical drills, pointe training, musical phrasing, repertoire study and exam revision blocks.
Adapt teaching approaches for teenage bodies experiencing growth spurts, joint tightness, strength discrepancies and changing flexibility.
Systematically coach students for Intermediate graded examinations, including stamina building, performance polish and assessment presentation standards.
Recognise early symptoms of dance-related overuse injuries and implement corrective conditioning, stretching and rest protocols for adolescent dancers.
Guide students to develop independent musicality, artistic interpretation and confident stage presence through classical ballet repertoire study.
Evaluate individual student technical gaps objectively, create personalized improvement plans and deliver balanced, constructive feedback for teenage learners.
Support students exploring vocational dance pathways, offering basic guidance on advanced training, audition preparation and dance career fundamentals.
Manage mature teenage class dynamics, resolve performance anxiety, peer competitiveness and training burnout with empathetic, professional classroom strategies.
Recommended Preparation:
Revise all Grade 3–5 core ballet terminology and technical standards prior to the course to seamlessly follow Intermediate advanced technical sessions.
Research adolescent musculoskeletal development, teenage growth spurts and common dance injury risks for students aged 13 and older.
Prepare full professional dance wear, pointe shoes (for practical demonstration), soft ballet slippers and hair styling supplies for daily hands-on practical drills.
Familiarise yourself with official Intermediate exam classical music and standard syllabus repertoire to engage with rhythm and choreography workshops.
Bring notebooks, writing tools and optional recording devices to document technical specifications, correction methodologies and sample structured lesson templates.
Teachers with existing intermediate ballet teaching experience should collate tricky student technical challenges, pointe training issues and exam stress cases for group discussion.
Maintain consistent pre-training physical conditioning and stretching, as the course includes extensive full-day practical demonstration and mock teaching practice.
Review a copy of the official Intermediate syllabus overview (where accessible) and compile technical standard questions for group Q&A sessions.
Come prepared to participate in peer mock teaching activities, including demonstrating corrections and delivering sample Intermediate class segments to fellow trainees.
